A letter from Anthony...
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
During the first wave of Covid lockdowns, it was incredibly surreal to
find ourselves in a situation where we were unable to meet in person. This time around we are far more experienced
with the concept of being in lockdown, and yet for many there seems to be an
increasing sense of fear.
In the first wave of Covid 19, the cases were all a long way away, but
this time around it feels far more likely that Covid 19 cases will sooner or
later be confirmed in our area. Just
this past week someone confirmed to have Covid 19 travelled through Temora and
visited many places that are highly populated.
If you’ve been keeping up with the daily case numbers, then you’ll know
that all of the news programs seem to be filled with a great sense of fear over
what could happen, as the daily case numbers continue to rise, and as younger
and younger people become seriously ill with the virus.
This sense of uncertainty may cause us to wonder; How long will this
lockdown last? How long before the virus makes it to our town? And will the
number of new Covid 19 case numbers ever go down?
We all experience this fear and frustration in different ways, depending
on our stage of life and circumstances.
Some of us will fear for our own welfare and the welfare of loved ones,
as no one really knows what the future of living with this virus will look
like. While others fear an extension of
the lockdown more than the virus itself as this period of isolation drags on –
particularly for those who live on their own.
At some time or another, we all face fear in the various circumstances of our lives – things that are happening or may happen in our lives. In a world filled with so many uncertainties that are out of our control, there will always be a temptation to give in to fear. But as those with faith in Christ Jesus may our confidence be found in our sovereign and loving Saviour in these troubling times. When we are tempted to give in to this sense of fear and uncertainty, may we rather find shelter in the arms of the Almighty God.
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
