A letter from Anthony...

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:19–23

Are you burdened by all of the things that need to be done in the lead up to Christmas?  Are you tired and stressed because of harvest? Are worries, fears or concerns weighing on your heart?

Let us encourage each other to approach the throne of grace with confidence, and come before our Lord in prayer.  Laying our burdens at the foot of the cross, knowing that our Saviour cares for those who trust in Him.  Draw near to God with a sincere heart and with full assurance; the kind of assurance that faith grows in our hearts as we trust in our Saviour.

As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 23 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

God doesn’t always take us around the “valley of the shadow of death,” sometimes He allows us to go through it.  But whether He allows us to go through it, or guides us around it, we can have full assurance that He has not left us to walk on our own.  Through Christ we can have full assurance that God will never leave us or forsake us; because of Jesus’ death on the cross, our hearts have been sprinkled by the blood of Christ and our guilty consciences have been cleansed.

Therefore, “let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful” – the promise being salvation for those who trust in His One and Only Son.

No matter what we are going through in our lives at the moment, whether we are going around the valley or through it, we can have confidence in the hope we have in Jesus, and full assurance that we are not going through it on our own.

In Christ, Anthony
